Old School Gaming

There was a time when one kid could write a computer game and it would become a best seller. These days you need a team of kids, and a movie budget to do the same. I miss the old school.

 Game were based around strategy, gameplay and skill. These days games companies just play it safe with hot graphics and no depth. If you want a truly in depth game, see hot graphics as a warning. This is not true of all games of course but it is a good rule of thumb.

 Good examples of simple graphics but serious game play:

The best MMORPG around as long as you can get over the simple graphics. I feel sorry for the guys who did the graphics because they are actualy very nice, but still simple compared to blockbuster titles.

A fantasy strategy game which is uber simple in design but when you get into the game play it gets you thinking very hard.
